October 1st, 2013 marks the next milestone for the implementation of The Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as ObamaCare.
Although there is no penalty for not notifying employees, companies subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act must give written notice to their employees about the health insurance marketplace including options and costs. The United States Department of Labor has provided model notices on their website for employers to use.
All U.S. citizens and legal residents must have qualifying health insurance by January 1st, 2014 to avoid tax penalties unless they have received an exemption.
